I’ve read a number of Emma Straub’s books, so this pickup from Second Story Books in Rockville, MD was a bit of a curiosity. A story about golden-age Hollywood already has my attention, but I found it hard to latch on to the characters here. The plot moves along on rails and the characters don’t always feel like flesh and blood. A quick read, and another reading-as-exercise one. Maybe I should rewatch Singin’ in the Rain.
